However, the way we respond to culture, as educators, must be different and will have a significant impact on your students and their success or failure. Through this training, participants will examine the different ways day-to-day experiences impact children and their cultural identification. Participants will discuss barriers and current best practices to develop a culturally responsive setting for all students.

This training highlights the power of storytelling in early childhood. Participants will explore how to support all children—including multilingual learners and children with special needs—in creating stories using varied materials, capturing and revisiting their words, performing their stories, and reflecting on them together. Through documentation strategies and real classroom examples, we’ll examine how this process nurtures imagination, language development, confidence, and a strong sense of community.

This session will prepare educators to be self-aware of their personal culture and cultural values, attitudes, beliefs, and biases in interactions. Participants can access their personal and cultural beliefs by examining themselves first. Participants will be able to apply culturally responsive strategies to build and implement skills through their intentions.
