Forestry careers are as diverse and dynamic as the forests themselves! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll discover exciting ways to introduce your students to a wide range of careers in forestry. Learn from Weyerhaeuser professionals about career pathways in this vital industry, from sustainable forest management to environmental stewardship.

The day includes a field trip to one of Weyerhaeuser’s local tree nurseries, where you’ll see first-hand how forests are cultivated and cared for. You’ll also receive two valuable resources: Project Learning Tree’s Green Jobs: Exploring Forest Careers curriculum and Project Learning Tree’s The Journeys of Black Professionals in Green Careers, both packed with activities to help you bring these career pathways to life in your classroom.

Plus, enjoy lunch and the opportunity to network with other educators. Whether you’re introducing students to nature-based careers or expanding their understanding of the green economy, this workshop will leave you with the tools and inspiration to bring forestry careers to your students in engaging and meaningful ways.

Successful completion of this training will certify you in First Aid and CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) for infant, child, and adult. Current first aid and CPR certifications are required for certified and registered family child care providers as well as for some staff in certified child care centers. This training meets OCC licensing requirements as well as requirements for the DHS enhanced rate. This training will be held in person in Ontario.

It’s Always fun to take learning and play outdoors, but what do we do in the case of extreme temperatures?  We will discuss temperature, how long children can participate outside, cultural and other considerations we should account for when it comes to dressing for the weather and develop a plan and practice safety procedures with the children during extreme temperatures.
